Awareness of contemporary crime threats and the ability to take concrete action to eliminate undesired behaviour the chief aim of this course. The leading goal of the course is to make the students familiar with the current trends in: the prevention, detection and combating of broadly understood crime from the criminal and legal perspective (the operational and legal proceedings spheres). This course is directed to college graduates (with at least a bachelor’s degree), who work in the structures of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (including the Police, Internal Security Agency, Central Anticorruption Bureau and Border Guard) and in companies dealing with comprehensive security (including private security companies and detective agencies) and to persons who intend to work in these areas. The Post-Graduate Studies on Criminology and Crime Fighting Methods supplements the knowledge of government officers and provide the qualifications for persons who seek employment in areas related to security to realise their career goals. Graduates are distinguished by their competence including reliable knowledge and skills in measures to counteract crimes against life and property and to carry out investigative tasks. They have learnt the basics or penal law and criminal procedure law and how to use them in practice. They have significantly broader knowledge of personality psychology, criminal behaviour and negotiation. The classes are conducted by high class specialists in the theory and practice of criminology, penal law, operational work, psychology (especially negotiation and psychological manipulation) and forensic medicine. The theoretical an practical classes are conducted by experienced officers from the Central Investigation Bureau, the Voivodship Police Headquarters in Poznań, the City Police Headquarters in Poznań Policji and the Police Training Centre in Poznań as well as experienced trainers in personality psychology, psychological manipulation and negotiation. The education of Criminology and Crime Fighting Methods course graduates broadens their competence and enables persons who already work in public security institutions to get promoted.
