Biology belongs to the group of natural sciences. The course provides comprehensive education in the area of the natural sciences, concerning phenomena and processes on all levels of living nature. The curriculum includes topics concerning the use of biology chiefly in fields such as biotechnology, medicine and environmental protection.
The chief aim of studying biology is for the students to obtain knowledge and skills in the basic sciences of: botany, zoology, biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, microbiology, the physiology of plants and animals, ecology, immunology, environmental protection and evolutionism, based on a solid foundation of the exact sciences of mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics and information technology.
An important element of the curriculum is to teach the students the theoretical and practical skills of using various laboratory and analytical techniques and skills related to working in the field.
