Spanish is the world’s second language in terms of the number of speakers. There are ca. 500 million people who speak it in Spain, almost all the countries of Latin America and many states of the USA, where in many cases it has the status of official language just like English.
A graduate of Spanish and Portuguese Studies has a very good command of either Spanish or Portuguese (conversational level C1 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The course also provides substantial knowledge on the culture, literature, history and philosophy of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
