This course has the auspices of the TEPIS Polish Society of Sworn and Specialised Translators, whose activity primarily calls for the broadening and disseminating of the art of translation, with special emphasis on the needs of sworn and specialist translators.
The aim of the course is to train translators by teaching the translation of economics and legal texts into and from a foreign language and to prepare them for a state exam to become sworn translators. The course provides knowledge about specialist terminology and translating strategies in the fields of economics and law.
The lectures and exercises are conducted by economists, lawyers and sworn translators, which provide students with valuable knowledge of economics and law and enable them to acquire the practical skills vital to a translator’s work. Completing this course enables graduates to take the sworn translator exam before the State Examination Committee based on the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator (Journal of Laws of 2004 No. 273, item 2702 as amended). For an extra fee, towards the end of the course, students can take a mock sworn translator exam.
The course is open to persons with at least first-cycle degrees in various courses who know English at a minimum C2 level.
